The HP 8753D RF network analyzer provides an unparalleled combination of speed, performance and ease of use to meet the testing needs of development laboratories or manufacturing. The 8753D provides a satisfactory solution for characterizing the linear and nonlinear characteristics of active or passive networks, components and subsystems with its integrated S parameter testing device covering 3 or 6GHz frequency range, dynamic range of 110dB, frequency scanning and power scanning. The new microprocessors used make the measurement and data transfer speed up to seven times faster than the previous models. The network analyzer is characterized by two independent measurement channels, which can simultaneously measure and display all four S parameters.
Any combination of reflection and transmission parameters can be displayed in amplitude, phase, group delay, Smith chart, polar coordinates, standing wave ratio or time domain format. Easy to use special function keys can quickly access various measurement functions. Up to 4 scale grids can be used to observe the measurement results in the form of overlapping or separating screens on a high-resolution LCD color display. In order to drive a larger external monitor for easy observation, VGA compatible output is added.
Good universality and performance An integrated synthesis source provides output power up to 10mW (100mW with option 011), frequency resolution and linear frequency of 1Hz, logarithmic frequency, list frequency, CW and power scanning functions. The three tuning receivers can perform independent power measurement or simultaneous ratio measurement within a wide dynamic range of 105dB at 6GHz (with option 006 frequency extension) or 110dB at 3GHz (standard). The integrated test device can measure the transmission and reflection characteristics of devices up to 6GHz without using a frequency multiplier.
TRL */LRM * 1 calibration is provided for convenient and accurate measurement in non coaxial system. Using the built-in adapter removal calibration technology, high-precision measurement of non plug-in devices can also be achieved. The frequency reference with high stability (option 1D5) improves the frequency measurement accuracy of high Q devices, such as surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices, crystal resonators or dielectric resonant filters. In order to improve the flexibility of configuration, option 011 cancels the built-in test device so that you can select the test device you need.
HP 8753D option 011 can be used together with HP85046A/B and 85047A S parameter test devices and special test devices for other special applications. The new option for automatic production can delete the internal display and reduce the instrument cost (option 1DT). The productivity improvement test timing function allows one key to perform complex tasks quickly and repeatedly. In the time sequence working mode, the analyzer can save the input only by measuring once from the panel, so that no additional programming is required. It is also possible to control external devices via parallel or HP-IB ports using test sequences. Other productivity features include built-in floppy disk drives that support LIF and DOS formats, nonvolatile memory, serial and parallel interfaces, DIN keyboard interfaces, and real-time clocks that provide time recording for printouts and files. It also includes limit test, arbitrary frequency test and mark tracking functions. The measurement time can be shortened by using the list scanning mode to select the special frequency to be tested and setting independent IF bandwidth and power level in each frequency range. Segmental calibration and interpolation error correction can improve the vector accuracy in a certain section of the calibrated frequency range of the analyzer. For the purpose of more advanced characterization of the device, option 002 adds the harmonic measurement function. The scanning second and total harmonic levels of the amplifier can be displayed directly or in numbers relative to the fundamental wave. Press a button to measure harmonics up to - 40. Power meter calibration provides stable absolute power to devices sensitive to absolute input or output levels.
The HP 8753D automatically controls the 436A, 437B, 438A, EPM-441A or EPM-442A power meter, so that the power anywhere in the test system can be adjusted to the accuracy of the power meter, or the network analyzer receiver can be calibrated for accurate absolute power measurement. In order to measure mixers, tuners and other frequency converters, the frequency offset mode of operation allows tuning of the network analyzer independently of the receiver. The analyzer can easily complete the measurement of frequency conversion loss, phase, group delay and mixer tuning in the way of fixed intermediate frequency or scanning intermediate frequency test. Time domain analysis uses option 010 to observe reflection or transmission response in time domain. The analyzer calculates the inverse fast Fourier transform of frequency domain data to show the relationship between reflection coefficient or transmission coefficient and time. Two time-domain analysis methods can observe the step response or impulse response of devices. Timing gating can be used to remove some unwanted responses, such as joint mismatch, and gating results can be displayed in time domain or frequency domain. 1TRL * and LRM * are three sampler implementation modes of straight through reflection transmission line and transmission line reflection matching calibration technologies. Summary of technical indicators The integrated S parameter testing device provides full forward and reverse measurement with 50 Ω (standard) or 75 Ω (option 075).
